Brazilian utility CPFL launches unit for residential and commercial PV

Brazil’s largest non state-owned power utility CPFL Energia announced it created a new unit for the distributed generation PV segment. The new company, dubbed Envo, will offer residential and commercial PV solutions under the country’s net metering scheme.
The company will be mainly active in the state of Sao Paulo, and especially in the cities of Campinas and Sorocaba.
The offer includes all the stages of the PV project, from the first technical advice to the completion of the installation. Envo is also offering on its website a tool to make a first project assessment.
Furthermore, Envo also provides the option to have access to special financing conditions from Banco Santander.
CPFL is currently conducting a pilot program for the installation of 231 solar power generators that is expected to be concluded by November 2017. The company also recently installed PV systems on 100 buildings in Campinas.
After the Brazilian government improved the net metering scheme last year, the number of PV systems installed under the scheme has increased considerably. In 2016, approximately 50 MW of new installations were added, while so far this year around 16 MW of new net metered PV systems came online.
