Solarcentury take charge of 44 MW Dutch solar farm

Solarcentury take charge of 44 MW Dutch solar farm

A 44 MW solar farm will be developed in the Netherlands by Encavis AG and Solarcentury. The Nyrstar project will bring Encavis’ generation capacity to 100 MW in the Dutch market, almost doubling its capacity. The project is the first developed under partnership between the two companies.
Encavis and Solarcentury joined forces to boost solar output in the Netherlands, and are aiming for 1.1 GW by widening their partnership over the next three years, with Nyrstar the first project to be developed.
Construction is due to begin on Monday with completion slated for the end of the year. A press release reported the farm will be located on a sink landfill site, with connection to the grid expected in December.
The Dutch state has guaranteed a €0.104/kWh ($0.12/kWh) FIT for 15 years. The developers estimate the project will generate turnover of €4.5 million within its first year of operation.
Government policies in the Netherlands favour the proliferation of solar PV, one of the reasons Encavis Chief Executive Dr Dierk Paskert says the company can focus on “concrete expansion plans, currency matching and attractive financial terms”.
The maintenance and operation of the plant will be performed by Solarcentury, which will retain an equity share of 20 per cent in the farm.
